Hi Everyone,
I too believe that we need to change the date for our convention. We
nce held it over the Labor Day weekend but we changed to the Memorial Day
eekend because of the huge threat of hurricanes that could strike any part
f Florida. This is still a big consideration so I do not think we dare
hange the date of convention to September or October.
During the many years I worked at Daytona State College we always
ecognized MLK day and did not work on that Monday. We never got off from
ork on President's Day.
It's truly a tough decision that we must come to terms about.
herrill makes a good point about hotels increasing their rates when all of
he snow birds come to Florida.
Does anyone actually know the date of Martin Luther King day? I do
ot have a calendar for 2013. I do believe at this point that that is our
est option.
Thanks,
Kathy Davis

I agree.
I think September or October would be better than January due to the
olidays being so close.

Although I think Martin Luther King Jr. weekend would be very nice, I
believe January is too soon after the Christmas holiday to have a
convention. Everyone is trying to catch up on bills and credit card
expenses to afford another expensive holiday. Try sometime in
February-April or September and October. Take care.
