HI Marily,

Yes, this is a happening that is still too frequent and comes in many
forms. This happened to me and is another form of 'bullying' by default. I
gave blood. Mentioned to neighbors that coupons to a nice restaurant came in
the mail as a thank you, which btw is not why I decided to give blodd.

My neighbor, a retired NYC Social Worker, looked like an apoplectic event
was about to happen--the eyes bulged and the words spurted forth ...'you,
you, you, they, they they...'. I finally said, 'let me help you'. Are you
trying to ask how I was allowed to give blood because i am blind and hard of
hearing?

At this, she sputtered more stammers saying yes that she would NEVER want
to know that it was my blood she'd received if an emergency arose for her or
any of her family.

'Now let's be reasonable', someone once said, and I've come to know that
some folks just cannot reason! For some wonderful reason, her words did not
bother me. And I think the priest 'understood' also.

He is very well known, btw. His book 'And the Journey Begins' is a good
one, I am told.

Thanks for letting me spout off!

bre (Brooke)
