While at Halifax Hospital I had a general surgeon that came in to look at my 
wound and determine if an additional surgery was required. Every time he 
came into the room he yelled so loud that my dad who is HOH tried to tune 
him out. After his second visit to the room. I whispered, "Doctor, are you 
hard of hearing?" He replied, "No, but your legally blind." I replayed, 
"Doctor, are the eyes and ears connected? If one doesn't work does that mean 
the other doesn't work?" He stepped back and the light bulb went off. He 
didn't yell or raise his voice again. Now when I go for follow ups in his 
office, he speaks in a normal voice. He even explained to a partner that 
legal blindness did not mean I was deaf.
This happened with in the past five weeks.
