I think I have the solution figured out.  

 

First, when you are in documents hit alt-v and arrow down to list and enter.


 

Then hit alt-v again and arrow to details and enter.  

 

Here comes the step where I must have messed things up somehow.  

Hit alt-v for a third time and arrow to sort by and enter.  

 

Find name and enter.  

 

You should now have one list where you can arrow to the right and find
details about files and arrow up and down through the file list to wherever
you would like.
