[Nfbf-l] Member-At-Large Chapter Interest?

Hello everyone,

    At large chapters would also be another option for those living in 
cities where chapters exist but because of scheduling conflicts, 
transportation issues, or issues between themselves and members of the local 
chapter. If giving such individuals a way to be a part of a state affiliate 
will enable them to stay connected with their state affiliate and serve as 
an alternative to joining the local chapter should issues between themselves 
and the local chapter arise membership in an at-large chapter should be 
permitted. We have such a situation here in San Antonio. Congrats on 
organizing your at large chapter.

Holly & Sherri,

I think this is great. I am sure everyone recognizes how spread out Florida
is and so are the transportation options or non-transportation options. So
many people on the Free White Cane list are unable to trek in to the
closest chapter. With gas prices and having to ask for a ride that may be
25 miles or more via private vehicle; for a newly blind/visually impaired
person or someone coping for a while, it is just not feasible especially
when the driver you have in proximity has no interest in what you might be
interested in doing. It is all about power  a lot of times and most people
are not ready or may never be ready to add it to their plate of stress. It
certainly is a good proposal and I know a few people with Email addresses
that I will send this to so that they can ask more questions.
