[Nfbf-l] Reminder for those going to the baseball game, plus introduction

Hello. Since this is my first post to the list, allow me to introduce
myself. I am an adaptive technology trainer and compiler of the rather
popular weekly newsletter Top Tech Tidbits for Thursday. If you have
questions about any of those matters, training, consulting, receiving
Tidbits, feel free to write to me off list.

My wife Marilyn and I are moving, for some variable percentage of the year,
to Melbourne. I am typically not a member of either organization of the
blind. My plan is to join this and the FCB list so I can offer assistance,
hopefuly form friendships, and keep abreast of what is going on. I may be
interested in attending the cruise state Convention, so invite somebody to
write to me off list about membership so I can do that.

Now, to the matter at hand: To answer Miranda's question, If you try
listening to the game you are attending via an iPhone app, you will get a
very significant delay, which will make the experience rather unpleasant.
You likely can't use the TuneIn app, you will need the MLB app, since most
of the time, game broadcasts are blocked from streaming. Indeed, you will
also get an annoying delay if you set out to listen to the game over the
standard frequencies of WDAE using a radio. Most, but not all, stadiums
provide a designated fm frequency, usually near the top of the dial, to
provide real-time listening for radio listeners attending the game. I hope,
for your sakes, that the Trop has such an accommodation, as hearing the
account of what happened five or ten seconds ago isn't really very
worthwhile!

Looking forward to meeting many of you and to offering assistance where I
can.

Dean

Hi Sherri,

It is on WDAE which I believe is 620 on the AM dial. They have also begun
broadcasting on FM which I think is 93.5 but I'll have to check on that one.

Thanks,
Jim

Hi all,

I just wanted to suggest that if you are going to the Ray's game on Saturday
you should consider bringing an AM-FM radio with a headset along for the
game. That way you will know what all is going on. It needs to have a
headset so you don't disturb others around you.

Thanks and see you at convention,

Jim
