All these years I have wished for an audio video receiver that is
accessible. I've owned a couple of them and in both cases I needed sighted
help each time I wanted to set them up or make changes. Well, for the most
part there finally are several as follows from Denon Electronics. They
didn't set out to make them accessible but they for the most part are. They
range from the lowest priced Denon X1000 and include the X2000, X3000 and
the X4000. At this point I should mention that for them to be accessible
you will need an internet connection. The receiver must be connected to
your router or your network using Ethernet cable otherwise known as CAT5.
This will allow you to connect their web interface and this is where it
becomes accessible. You can even turn the receiver on/off and raise and
lower the volume. You can change channels as well as change from any of
many different program sources. The receiver supports Pandora, Spotify(if
you have a premium account), and Sirius XM which requires an account. Only
Pandora will work on the free trial account. The receiver also boasts phono
jacks for those of us who like to listen their vynil collection. Of course
using the web interface you can make changes to the receivers many settings
including setting up the speakers using the supplied microphone. I really
can't stop saying great things about it.

There may be other companies who have the same type of accessible web
interface but the only one I've checked out is the Denon X4000. A friend of
mine has the X3000 and is enjoying his as well. I should also point out the
the supplied remote is also pretty user friendly. If you've ever wanted an
accessible AV receiver than this might be the one for you with 4 units
ranging widely in price. I am using JAWS for Windows version 15 but I would
expect good results with other screen readers.

Thanks,

Jim
