Lenora sent this out!

Hey everyone,

This was an extremely close race! Down to the wire with many
people sitting on the edge of their seats constantly checking the
latest results. We pulled out all the stops, got the word out, and
brought Alden from 13 percentage points behind, to just barely
missing the win. While it is sad he did not win the brailler, I love
the way we came together to get this done. Go NFBF!

Even more disheartening is how children are still struggling for
equipment at school and home. Even if they do have a brailler at
school, most of the time they don't have one at home to do their
homework. At this time, DBS does not
provide equipment to students age 5-18. Once a blind child grows
out of the blind babies program, their services are provided by
the Dept. of Education. And I will stop there, or this e-mail will
get really, really long.

This contest simply brings to light once again, the ongoing
problems across this country that families of blind children
face every day. Education, equipment, and the lack thereof.

The Porter's have been inundated with requests of how to
help. In response, they have set up a website where people
can make donations. So far today, they have raised $590
towards a SMART Brailler for Alden. Just click on the link
below to donate. If you would prefer to contact Misty Porter
