<pre style="font-size: 9pt;"><tt>My sentiments also, Peter.
There is another dimension to the BMRS 'connected hearts' story few know. BMRS took risks, no doubt mostly well calculated, but not widely recognized. The young network took two bold risks October, 2012. BMRS, not six months old, jumped into waters uncharted and did their first live remote broadcast.... and..... did their first ever radio broadcast from the Florida Deaf-Blind Association (FDBA) 2012 State meeting in Apopka, FL.

None before BMRS had brought media into a uniquely diverse population of persons Deaf-Blind simply to ask, "how'r y'doen?" (Michael Golder's way of saying, "how are you doing?")

We told the world for the first time ever exactly how we are doing! Being on a radio show was exciting, but what was exhilarating? For myself, I no longer was trying to explain, or defend, my hoh/Usher 'weirdness' to the blind or to the deaf or some family! I had been asked how was I doing!

For two hours each person at the Mike told of their life filling airwaves of our advocacy work, networking, goals achieved, aspirations for those like ourselves. (Archive BMRS October 2012 show, second Saturday, I think)

BMRS had literally flung a door wide open for DB through its radio markets and cyber space. Those living with dual sensory loss now had a friend in BMRS, as do those blind living behind closed doors.

We, few, if any of us, will ever know of lives touched through BMRS. For me, I can only know who took a tremendous risk others dared not take to bring Light into darkened lives of blindness and deaf-blindness.

Sometimes the shortest life becomes the most powerful life to emulate. I learned to take risks from the short life of BMRS.

My NFB/NFBF DB Division best,

Brooke Evans
