The death of a loved one is one of lifes difficult experiences. There is no
right or wrong way to grieve. Grief does not unfold in orderly predictable
stages. It can be an emotional rollercoaster, with unpredictable highs,
lows, and setbacks. Yes indeed, Johnnie was a true advocater. It is so
nice to read all of the wonderful things about her. We must continue to
support each other during this time. Everyone must give themselves
permission to grieve. It is normal. Please, don't let anyone tell you how
long to greive. Listen to each other and be compassionate to one another.
As we all know, Johnnie was a very cheerful person; so lets continue to
laugh about the fun times, and remember her as you knew her.

Johnnie Slayton was a true advocate of "Changing What It Means To Be Blind"
In recent months, Johnnie
had expressed a strong interest and support of the Deaf-Blind
Divisions...both nationally and in the State
of Florida. We have lost a great leader. May Johnnie's family, friends
and those she served find comfort in
the life she lived and the wisdom she shared with each of us.
Johnnie, rest in peace and know how much you will be missed

 Hello everyone,

I am extremely saddened to report to you of the passing of one of our great
leaders, Johnnie Slayton. I don't have a lot of details yet, but she passed
away early this morning due to complications from a blood clot.

My deepest condolences go out to Johnnie's family and the Tallahassee
Chapter. She was by far, one of the most incredible people I've ever had the
pleasure of meeting. She will be greatly missed.

I've spoken with Sylvia Young, Tallahassee Chapter secretary and her
information is below should you need to contact her directly.
I will be posting further information as it becomes available concerning
services.
