Paul

Thank you for your hard work and dedication. As a FABS board member I know
the hard work you put forth not just with FABS, but in your position as a
State Board Member, as the Treasurer of the State Wide Chapter, and I know
that you are a very active member in your local chapter as well. That is
why FABS has so much respect for you and the work you do for the NFBF.
Look forward to see you at state.

Best

Jorge Hernandez
Vice-President
Miami-Dade Chapter
FABS
Board Member

Greetings fellow Federation,
For those who do not know me, my name is Paul Martinez, and I currently
serve on the State board of directors. I was selected to be on the board
during the Daytona State convention to complete a one year term. Since then
one of my main goals for the NFB of Florida, has been to strengthen members.
So, we can all continue to build and follow our mission, to live the life we
want. I am very passionate about the NFB and everything I do within our
organization. For the past two years, I have held the position of president
of the Florida Association of blind students. Within those years, we have
tripled our membership, created a mentoring project, held successful
fundraisers, and most importantly we have worked together as a team. Not
only do I work hard for the student division, but I believe in helping
chapters grow. Therefore, I helped build the state wide chapter by becoming
the treasurer. I also believe it is important to be involved in your local
area. So, I am a strong member of my local Tampa Bay chapter. Within both
chapters, I have assisted with several successful fundraisers, kept the
chapter organized and on task, and help with recruiting new members. Also, I
have had the honor of chairing the Scholarship Committee for the last two
years, which I am passionate about. On the other hand, my personal mission
is to not show our disability but show the world our capabilities.
Therefore, if I was reelected on the state board not only will I bring the
necessary skills needed for the position, but bring my dedication and my
passion

Looking forward to state convention.

Sincerely,

Paul Martinez

	Greetings Federation Family,

With the convention around the corner, I would like to remind everyone
to bring a non-perishable item for the student division food drive.
This food drive will benefit the community of Fort Lauderdale, and
will show off the way we support our communities. So, while packing
your bags, throw a can or two into your suitcase. On the other hand,
the Penny War will start on, Friday, January 16th at 6pm. So, ladies
bring your heavy purses and empty them out at the students table, and
men don't forget we except all $$$. May the best chapter or division
win!!!

Good luck,
--

Subject: Re: [Nfbf-l] Elections at 2015 State Convention

Greetings fellow Federation,
For those who do not know me, my name is Paul Martinez, and I
currently serve on the State board of directors. I was selected to be
on the board during the Daytona State convention to complete a one
year term. Since then one of my main goals for the NFB of Florida, has
been to strengthen members. So, we can all continue to build and
follow our mission, to live the life we want. I am very passionate
about the NFB and everything I do within our organization. For the
past two years, I have held the position of president of the Florida
Association of blind students. Within those years, we have tripled our
membership, created a mentoring project, held successful fundraisers,
and most importantly we have worked together as a team. Not only do I
work hard for the student division, but I believe in helping chapters
grow. Therefore, I helped build the state wide chapter by becoming the
treasurer. I also believe it is important to be involved in your local
area. So, I am a strong member of my local Tampa Bay chapter. Within
both chapters, I have assisted with several successful fundraisers,
kept the chapter organized and on task, and help with recruiting new
members. Also, I have had the honor of chairing the Scholarship
Committee for the last two years, which I am passionate about. On the
other hand, my personal mission is to not show our disability but show
the world our capabilities. Therefore, if I was reelected on the state
board not only will I bring the necessary skills needed for the
position, but bring my dedication and my passion

Looking forward to state convention.

Sincerely,

Paul Martinez

Federation family,

This is Denise Valkema, currently second Vice President on the NFBF state
board.i think I have been in this position since May of 2011. I served as a
state board member for a year prior. I have served as legislative
chairperson
for a number of years and attended many Washington seminars as
chairpersonand some prior as a member of South Florida team. I have been to
national center for two leadership seminars and past two years for
legislative directors training. I enjoyed Tallahassee days. I have served
a number of years on scholarship committee. I coordinates volunteers for
Florida areas of responsibility at national convention and filled in
wherever I was needed. I was recognized at state for doing various tasks
without a title. I have attended meetings regularly for events, some
Newsline, presidents,NFBF board meetings, as well as others.

I was a member of Pinellas chapter and served as a chapter board member one
year. I have been in the Miami chapter since 1997. I was chapter secretary
for a number of years and Vice President. I have been membership chair. I
help chapter where needed and miss only when I have schedule conflicts. I
believe in supporting my local chapter.

I helped the statewide chapter some, joined the deaf/blind division, and have
been a FLAGDU member for years.

I would like to see more communication and unification in the affiliate. I
would like to encourage members to choose to use their abilities.
J.K. Rowling ? 'It is our choices, that show what we truly are, far more
than our abilities. Let's make wise choices, live the life we want, and
choose to build the federation
