[Nfbf-l] Net Neutrality Prevails in Historic FCC Vote February 26 2015

I am thrilled at this decision, and s bit surprised, the current FCC Chairperson being a former cable company lobbyist.

This issue was the subject of an NFB resolution at our last convention. The resolution cleared the resolutions committee, but was voted down by the convention.

I wanted to speak in favor of the resolution, but there just wasn't time. I wish they would give more Time for resolutions at national, as they are one of the most important things that we do. I thought we should be in favor of net neutrality, But it wasn't to be. However, it looks like it passed without us. Even though the NFB had nothing to do with it, I am glad it passed.

That being said, everyone needs to do the research necessary to form their own opinion. It is tough. It takes work and time. Another thing to be considered, this is just the first step of many before we see any change; and many court battles to come. The ADA legislation, as most rules or laws, goes through this before change is felt. As a lot of you on this list remember, just because President Bush (1) signed the legislation into law, things did not change overnight. Lawsuits, DOT, and DOJ complaints were filed over the first 3-5 years and are still being heard to this day. The ADA has been amended a couple times, but I think the basic core is still there. Hope it all works out.
