Sunday October 11th 2015

Hello FloridaFederation Family,

Vive La Vida QueQuieres; La Ceguera No Te Lo (English) “Live the Life you
want” were thewords chanted at the 20th Annual Latin American Festival held
atDewey Boster Park in Deltona Florida on Sunday October 4th The invitation
to introduce the NationalFederation of the Blind to that largelyLatin
American community came from the organizers of that event; Florida Houseof
Representative Mr. David Santiago and his lovely wife Emma along withRaphael
Ramirez the Vice President ofthe Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

The NationalFederation of the Blind of Florida and the Volusia County
Community Coalitionof Colleagues got together and kick started the first of
a series of meet theblind activities planned and scheduled for the month of
October. The WE team consisted of; Peter Cerullo, NFBFFirst Vice President,
Jean Cerullo, Treasurer of the NFB Greater Daytona BeachChapter, Wendy
Wilson, NFB Newsline & President of the Deland Lions Club,Kathy Acevedo, DBS
Braille & Talking Book Library along with Carlos Montosand his guide dog
Zena and Pastor WifredVera; of the Hispanic Christian Youth Coalition. We
were blessed with great weather and were given2 great spots located between
the Volusia County Health Department and theVolusia County Board of
Elections. There were over 100 booths with a widevariety of Latin food and
treats, community health groups, along with vendorsselling jewelry, hand
crafted items, lively colorful clothing and an onsitebarber shop. The
stage was filled with several Latinomusical artists that kept the momentum
going with the rhythm that touched thesoul while making your heart and feet
dance to the beat. The well attended festival estimated at over12,000
participants all had a fun filled Latin American Day!

The NFB and the Volusia County Community Coalitionwould like to thank Mr.
President Alpidio Rolón, NFB Puerto Rico Affiliate forreaching out and
supporting us with material in Spanish and for the encouragement to build
theFederation in this heavily populated Latin American community.

Peter Cerullo, NFBF First Vice President
