I was looking for a Bluetooth speaker I could use with my mobile devices. A friend of mine had one I liked, but he could not tell me the model number.
While looking on the Apple Store app on my iPhone, I found the Bose Soundlink Mini Bluetooth Speaker II. The description says it will verbally talk you through pairing the speaker with your device. It does more than that! All functions talk! If you pair it with your phone, it’ll announce who’s calling. The speaker will announce battery status by pressing and holding the power button, and when powered on. The speaker also tells you when devices are connected and disconnected. I wondered how I would set the language, but that talks too. When you power the speaker on for the first time, it will begin talking and tell you for English press the Multifunction button. That’s the third button from the left. You press and hold that and the unit will beep. If needed you can change the language if you selected the wrong one during initial setup. You’ll then be told the unit is ready to pair. After pairing a device, if you want to pair another, press and hold the Bluetooth button. That’s the last button on the right.
The buttons from left to right are Power, Volume Down, Multifunction, Volume Up, and Bluetooth. Press and release the Bluetooth button if you want to switch the device with which the speaker is paired.
When charging, the speaker will give two beeps when it is plugged in to a wall outlet, or placed properly on the charging base. You also hear two beeps when the unit is disconnected from AC power.
I’ll have mine at convention, and if you’d like to see it, let me know. I’ll also try to have music playing when I’m working the information desk, and the NFBF table. I hope they’ll allow me to have the music on, because if it’s quiet I find music keeps my attention focused on what’s around me.
