Hi, Joanne.
I appreciated Kathy's response offering the Braille display option, but I
wonder if it's the long way around for a solution.
If for example you have an iPhone, a Bluetooth keyboard can be paired with
it so you can use text, email, social media or even the notes program.
Since the keyboard can be QWERTY, someone else could use it when in person
if need be by passing it back and forth.

My husband is totally blind and has been for many years. Now he has a
speech problem and it is getting worse to the point that he can be hardly
understood.
I am looking for a portable unit that he can carry on communications with
people outside of a desktop.
