Nicole,
I would look at the NFB National Division of Parents to see what they do at
conventions to get some ideas.
One item I would suggest for the parents is the talking thermometer along
with all of the kinds of thermometers like the you stick in the ear and the
one that doesn't have to be inserted in the ear or mouth. The Florida
Outreach center for the Blind will be glad to donate one of the talking
thermometers for your group to raffle off or use as a door prize.
HTH!
Carolyn

Subject: [Nfbf-l] State Convention, Blind Parents Connect Meeting
Good Evening,
Thank you to those of you who were able to join our call this evening. Your
participation is valued and greatly appreciated.
As many of you know, we have begun the planning process for our 2019 NFB of
Florida State Convention. It will take place Memorial Day weekend.
I am reaching out to you all asking for your input and suggestions as to
what you would like to see the Blind Parents Connect Committee have during
convention weekend.
We are thinking of having an informal round table discussion about various
topics that we as blind parents face each day with our children. In
addition, we thought it may be nice to have at the end of our meeting time
where we can bring some of the baby items we use each day to make our lives
a litttle easier when it comes to caring for or transporting our children.
Some of the items we may share are but certainly not limited to, baby
carriers, strollers, car seats and any other item that you may want to bring
and share with the group.
The convention planning committee will be meeting next week to discuss
details for convention early next week, so I am asking if you have any ideas
or topics that you want to see the Blind Parents Connect Committee have at
convention, please get all ideas to me by Saturday January 12, 2019. You
can feeel free to send me an email off line or call me at home.
I am asking, please share this information with anyone in your chapters or
divisions that may have an interest in being apart of the Blind Parents
Connect Committee. We are looking for suggestions and topics that will
interest and benefit all participants.
As always, if you have any questions, concerns or clarification of anything,
please do not hesitate to contact me directly. I look forward to receiving
some creative and innovative ideas from you all.
Thank you.
