	I am happy to learn you will be running for the NFBF board of
directors. I fully support your candidacy. This affiliate is stronger, more
unified, and more energetic than it has ever been in my 31 years of
membership! This is due to the same strength, unity, and energy exemplified
by our board. I know the dedicated hard work every member of the board puts
into this affiliate. This board is the most transparent, ethical group as a
whole this affiliate has had over the past 31 years and it shows in the
results this organization has accomplished and the plans it has for our
future. We are stronger now because we are united!

Dear Federation Family:

 

The 2019 Florida State Convention is only a few days away and once again, we
will see familiar faces, meet new members, share laughs and enjoy the
company of old friends.

 

This year, our elections will be held on Sunday, May 26, 2019. Several
positions are up for re-election.  I am seeking re-election for my board
seat and hope that I can continue the work I started when I became a board
member of the Florida Affiliate.  The growth of our affiliate is the
catalyst that provides the enthusiasm to advocate, educate and demonstrate
that we, as blind individuals, can live the life's we want, blindness does
not hold us back.

 

Under the leadership of our current President, Denise Valkema, I have had
the opportunity to develop a new affiliate web page, have online
registration for our convention and host several teleconference calls. I
have attended and participated in several Washington Seminars, attended
leadership training at our National Office, set-up the audio system for our
conventions, have our convention streamed live over the internet and worked
as a liaison for several chapters in our affiliate.

 

My work is not complete and I still have room for improvement and growth.
With the support of our Board of Directors and the authoritative body of the
convention, I will continue to grow our affiliate to assure that the
National Federation of the Blind of Florida is a leading force in blindness
in our local chapters, statewide and nationally.
