Ryan, this was a very thorough and descriptive post.  I found it fascinating.  I have a suggestion.  Why don’t you get the details of this post to Microsoft so they can work on the problems.  They seem to be willing to improve things.  You have now inspired me to play around with Narrator.  Thank you.
