I will always remember Mr. Scott Labarre. Such an intelligent well spoken person. He did so much for the Federation and the National Association of Blind Lawyers. Who can forget his lead on the PAC Plan every year. When he spoke you wanted to donate. He will truly be missed.

Our Communities of Faith Committee is praying for his family during this time of loss. This is very sad news.

I have been a member of the National Association of Blind Lawyers for several years and deeply appreciated Scott’s energy, vivacity and knowledge during his leadership. I did not know Scott very well, but will miss his voice as our PAC coordinator at convention. My thoughts and prayers go out to his family and all the lives he touched in his many years of service to the blind of our nation.

I regret to share that that loss is being felt exponentially this evening as we have learned that Scott Labarre has passed away surrounded by his family. The outpouring of love from the Federation family was deeply felt by Scott but his challenging medical condition could not be overcome. More details about services for this extraordinary individual and information about how we can support his wife Anahit and children Alex and Carter will be coming soon.

From arguing in the courts on behalf of blind people who were discriminated against, to securing an international agreement permitting the sharing of accessible books, to the close personal mentorship he freely gave to hundreds of individuals, his impact will continue to ripple across the world.
