[NFBF-L] Deaf Blind Division Meeting, Important nominations for officers and board

Brian    Is Mother's Day the only day the Affiliate has made available for a meeting?  Most of the female members are either mothers, have mothers or will have events that day.   Should we interpret this as yet another enhancement by the Affiliate to dissolve the Deaf-Blind Division, as we attempt to keep it going.  The Deaf-Blind population in Florida is growing exponentially day by day.
Write to or contact Janice Hanvey, (Helen Keller National Centerin Atlanta)   Get her numbers on Deaf-Blind citizens in Florida.I am very disappointed.  Gratefully, Joe Naulty will not knowabout this because of his failing health.   We have lost ourcompass; we are failing to serve; we are missing the mark. Those who need us most are falling by the wayside as we sidestep our responsibility.  It is not a "one man show"Apparently, you did not discuss this with your board of directors before proposing a National Holiday to hold a longoverdue meeting.  Your proposed date is 27 days away!
The board can sort it out.   I am presenting my unvarnished thoughts and opinion...Disappointed and Ashamed ! ! !

I propose that we have our next meeting by Zoom on the second Sunday of May next month. I propose that we hold this next month’s meeting on Sunday May 14 2023 @ 5pm – 6pm    I recognize that this date is Mother’s Day. If any NFBF Deaf Blind Board member has a conflict with that day/time, please suggest an appropriate alternative meeting time for consideration. After discussing this matter with Doug Ingram and Peggy Fleischer (also NFBF State Board members), we will have open nominations for second vice president and a board member position. We now have Sylvia Young as a temporary Treasurer until the Tampa October convention. Once those nominations are made, we can either defer their election until our June 11 2023 Sunday 5pm meeting, or have an immediate appointment immediately if such nominees are unopposed.    Please recruit new potential members to attend, and I expect each NFBF Deaf Blind officer and Board member to recruit at least one additional person to participate and join in this meeting. Please contact me to discuss this meeting time, and any other subjects to discuss or any suggested speaker. Of course, Joe's seat as Second VP needs to be vacated and filled with a deaf-blind candidate.  (sorry to add that task)    Joe had been hospitalized in February and again in March.  He is currently in a nearby rehab facility. West Melbourne Health and Rehabilitation is his location. There are many health issues.  We need thought and prayer.    Let me know date and time.
