Thanks Camille for your clarification.
I earlier spoke with Doug Ingram about my mistaken choice of words. I meant to take advice from the majority of our NFBF Deaf Blind Board when making temporary appointments to vacant positions until general elections at the October 2023 NFBF Tampa convention.

Hello All:

Since I am included in this email thread, I need to make a clarification. The President of the Deaf Blind Division may appoint people to fill board vacancies, but you can not hold any elections of any type until the state convention in October. The President, with the advise of the division board, may choose to appoint a candidate from a list of candidates for a vacant position. Please remember that by the division constitution, a majority of the board members must be deaf blind and the President and Vice Presidents must also be deaf blind.

I was a little confused about the wording in the below email regarding filling vacant positions and wanted to make it clear what is allowed by the constitutions of the division, affiliate and national, as well as the policies and procedures of the National Federation of the Blind.

Since our Deaf Blind Division now has confirmation of our Treasury total amount held in trust by Sylvia Young, we need to have a meeting to nominate a new treasurer, and nominations for other vacancies to hold those offices until the NFBF October Tampa State Convention.

After discussing this matter with Doug Ingram and Peggy Fleischer (also NFBF State Board members), we will have open nominations for second vice president and a board member position. We now have Sylvia Young as a temporary Treasurer until the Tampa October convention.
Once those nominations are made, we can either defer their election until our June 11 2023 Sunday 5pm meeting, or have an immediate appointment immediately if such nominees are unopposed.

Please recruit new potential members to attend, and I expect each NFBF Deaf Blind officer and Board member to recruit at least one additional person to participate and join in this meeting.
Please contact me to discuss this meeting time, and any other subjects to discuss or any suggested speaker.

Marilyn    Thank you for taking the initiative on this.
I have been deeply troubled by the silence and the
communication challenges.   Of course, Joe's seat
as Second VP needs to be vacated and filled with a
deaf-blind candidate.  (sorry to add that task)

Joe had been hospitalized in February and again in
March.  He is currently in a nearby rehab facility.
West Melbourne Health and Rehabilitation is his
location. There are many health issues.  We need
thought and prayer.

Dear Board Members.
I hope that everyone is as well as can be today and in the coming week. I think that it would be a good idea for us, the Board, to meet, and then call a meeting of the DB Division members, asap, Doug can you please let Brian and me know what Sunday evening is available this month for a Board meeting?

We need to decide upon candidates for our Division  treasurer, and also to select a topic for the Division Seminar in October 2023.
