Greetings Arlene: 

I hope you and Joe are doing better. We appreciate hearing your concerns about the Deaf-Blind meeting scheduled for Mother’s Day. The national Federation of the blind of Florida has supported the Deaf Blind division for many years. We have tried to work with the division to keep it open and will continue to support all of our divisions as long as they comply with the constitutions of the National Federation of the Blind and National Federation of the Blind of Florida. Additionally, the division has been meeting on this day and time for the past several years. The May meeting happens to fall on Mother’s Day. This could be adjusted for the month of May simply by contacting Second Vice President Camille Tate, who currently manages our affiliate Zoom account.  

We have a description of what is acceptable behavior on our email lists, that all subscribers must acknowledge prior to subscription to our email lists. We do not permit attacks against members, which includes members of our Board of Directors. Your concerns about the Board of Directors should have been directed privately to the President of the National Federation of the Blind of Florida. 

I love hearing from all of our members, but we have to be careful with what we write on the  email lists. The email list is shared by many people all around the state . In the future, please send deaf blind division email directly to Brian Norton, to the division liaison or to me, as affiliate President. Please feel free to give me a call when you have such concerns.

Subject: Re: Deaf Blind Division Meeting,Important Marilyn    Thank you for taking the initiative on this.I have been deeply troubled by the silence and thecommunication challenges.   Of course, Joe's seatas Second VP needs to be vacated and filled with adeaf-blind candidate.  (sorry to add that task) Joe had been hospitalized in February and again inMarch.  He is currently in a nearby rehab facility.West Melbourne Health and Rehabilitation is hislocation. I think that it would be a good idea for us, the Board, to meet, and then call a meeting of the DB Division members, asap, Doug can you please let Brian and me know what Sunday evening is available this month for a Board meeting? We need to decide upon candidates for our Division  treasurer, and also to select a topic for the Division Seminar in October 2023. I look forward to seeing everyone via zoom, sometime this month.
