[NFBF-L] Social Security Fairness Act Passed by Congress

In the wee hours of the morning, the bipartisan Senate passed H.R. 82<https://www.congress.gov/bill/118th-congress/house-bill/82/text>, the Social Security Fairness Act, by a vote of 76 to 20.

This legislation eliminates the government pension offset (GPO) and windfall elimination provision (WEP), which reduces Social Security benefits for those who receive other pensions from state or local governments.

Passage of H.R. 82 was years in the making but finally became possible after an unconventional move in the House allowed for bipartisan passage in that chamber.

Over the weekend, President Biden signed the measure.

It’s the law!!!!
