Hello Florida,
Here are the hours of the hospitality suite for the 2025 National
Federation of the Blind of Florida state convention. The Statewide Chapter
, this year's hospitality suite coordinators, would really appreciate
volunteers to make the hospitality suite a success. There will be several
1-2 hour shifts throughout the week. In addition, we will be using a
scheduling platform to make signups easier. Before releasing the link, we
would like to release the hours to allow prospective volunteers to consider
their schedules and availability. Here are the general duties of a
volunteer:
1. Marshalling: Assist in making sure that there is order to the line in
the hospitality suite.
2. Serving: Handing out food to fellow conventioneers.
3. Handling snacks: Organizing, sorting, and distributing snacks.
4. Handling drinks: Organizing, sorting, and distributing drinks.
5. Running the coffee machine, if a coffee machine is present.
6. Setting up and cleaning up the suite.
These duties are not meant to be specific but are meant to serve as a
general overview of possible tasks to be executed by the prospective
volunteer.
The Hours are as follows:
Friday: 12:00 PM - 6:00 PM
Saturday: 7:00 AM - 8:45 AM; 12:00 PM - 5:30 PM
Sunday: 7:00 AM - 8:45 AM; 12:00 PM - 5:00 PM
It would be greatly appreciated if first-shift volunteers came 30 minutes
early to assist in setting up. For volunteers assisting with the last
shift, it would be greatly appreciated if they can stay 15-30 minutes after
closing to assist with cleaning up.
For all conventioneers, I would like to remind you all that the food and
beverages at the hospitality suite are not meant to serve as a meal. We
will only be serving lite refreshments unless we receive hot food donations
from a restaurant. If we do receive hot food donations from a restaurant,
we will notify all conventioneers accordingly. As we get closer to
convention, the rules of the hospitality suite will be sent via email to
give all conventioneers the opportunity to enjoy a lite snack. If you have
any questions, don't hesitate to send me an email As we get closer, I will
also share my contact info for prospective volunteers to directly reach me.
Let's make the hospitality suite a place for all conventioneers to enjoy a
lite snack and socialize. Have a great day, and let's continue to build the
National Federation of the Blind.
Best,
Jose Bohorquez and Niklas Ham,
2025 NFBF Convention Hospitality Suite Management Coordinators

"We know that blindness is not the characteristic that defines you or our
future. Every day we raise the expectations of blind people, because low
expectations create obstacles between blind people and our dreams. Our
collective power, determination, and diversity achieve the aspirations of
all blind people."
