How awesome it is that Sherri took the time to completely read my long invite to tonight’s Legislative Advocacy and Concerns meeting. To clarify, Sherri, yes, the meeting is set for tonight, Tuesday, August 26th, 2025, at 8:00 PM, (Eastern.

I will advise all that the update meeting that Camille and I attended on Monday evening was very, very informative. We have some important updates to pass along from our Advocacy and Policy team, (to give you a hint, we’re going to be busy in September).

 Good afternoon,, everyone!

Since our last meeting, time seems to have flown by, got ourselves through the busy time of National Convention and then waded through some delays due to both your Legislative Directors being ill with some lousy summer bugs. Everyone is feeling much better now! Please forgive the very late notice of our regular, fourth Tuesday of each month gathering. 

Work is needed of course, as it always is, on both the Federal and State fronts. We’ll have an update on our national priorities and will also bring you up to speed with the latest on the Section 504 lawsuit. Camille Tate will have information on what’s been happening in Tallahassee and will provide information about what work we’ll be doing for the rest of this year and into the 2026 session.

The timing of our meeting couldn’t be better, as both Camille and I will be attending a briefing tonight with our national Advocacy and Policy team in Baltimore.  

Please make time within your busy schedules to attend this truly important Legislative Advocacy and Concerns meeting. 

I’ve mentioned this in the past, but don’t mind saying again that Florida has an amazing group of individuals involved in the legislative process, let’s keep the work going and keep advocating for all blind people in our wonderful State.
