Thanks to all for the feedback. I was thinking an appearance at the exhibit hall along with possibly being part of the seminars would be most likely and best, along with informing members they could visit the store independently if they like. I was putting forth all the possibilities I could think of.

Hi,

For many years, going to the Apple store was a favorite thing of mine to do. But that has changed. Whether the person you get knows anything about accessibility is luck of the draw. But, more importantly, the stores are always super loud, echoey, and acousticly hostile.

Loading a bunch of blind folks into vans or buses to go to an Apple store would be a nightmare.

I do think, though, that having an Apple rep come to us is a terrific idea. They could bring a variety of Apple products – headphones, speakers, cases, etc. – for people to examine and buy, and answer general questions.

Just my three cents.

Deborah

Sherri, Scott and anyone else reading this,

That sounds like it could be fun and interesting and some members could have a really good time with it. Fro From my experience with my vocal Apple Store I attended a class on accessibility and in my own experiences with the Apple rep leading the class, instead of walking away with new knowledge, it seemed I had more knowledge than the Apple rapid. Sometimes it could be the walk of the draw as the person leading the class as to the extent of their knowledge on accessibility features and maybe it’s better than when I took that. The other and more relevant point that I wanted to make was that instead of voting people up on vans or buses to go to the Apple Store invite an apple rep to come to the hotel and give the class there.. the class could also be that as a hybrid, so those unable to attend the convention might also be able to listen via zoom and benefit from the class. This would also save time and additional cost of going to the store.. I do realize that some might enjoy getting out of the hotel and it could be a fun time and also spending some time in the local area depending what other kinds of shops might be around. However, in just considering cost to those attending the convention, they are expensive enough and trying to keep the cost down might be a value to some people. It would be interested in attending this type of program.. personally I like the idea and definitely has its benefits, but I’m bringing it up for discussion.

Good morning.

I know it seems early to be thinking about the state convention, but the time to begin preparing for it will be here before we know it.

I had an idea come to me when I was browsing the new Apple Store on the phone and investigating an item I might use a gift card for. I saw there is an Apple Store in Altamonte Springs, in fact it is the nearest one to me.

So there are several ideas I had about that. Attendees can visit there during convention free time. Perhaps also they could be incorporated in the program through some sort of field trip, perhaps in the exhibit hall, or part of the technology programs of the convention.

This is meant as no disrespect to Android or any of the Windows based technology, but this could be a uniquely placed opportunity we might not easily see again.

Thanks for the opportunity to share this inspiration.
