Greetings:

I am inclined to agree with Sherri and Holly. I saw this post and the comments that came after. Technology is moving so fast that nobody can keep up with what is appropriate and not appropriate. I sense a lot of overwhelmment in the group. I get bombarded by so many things because I am a consumer as you all do also. NFB is a consumer driven organization. As a consumer, you have the responsibility to evaluate the information that you choose to come in; whether snail mail, television, telephone, computer, etc. Everybody collects data on us; even NFB. It is important that we review and remember privacy policies and ask questions about how this information is and will be used. Ultimately, it is your choice whether you play or pass in the game of information sharing. Please consider this question: "Who are the (fill in this blank) blind, deaf blind, etc. and where are they?" How many times has this question occurred in group discussion/membership building? We see all kinds of statistics compiled from consumer/participant sources, mostly government to justify funding. To a certain degree NFB does this also for fundraising sources and educational, membership information. The latest Presidential Release touches on this slightly in that connection sources are being reviewed to consolidate and streamline information so they don't have "pieces of data" in several places. I don't know the motivation of this deaf blind organization because I chose not to click on the link, however, when I do check on things I usually manually put it into the browser. There may be tracking cookies associated with this process too, but you have to tighten your settings for your filters so that you will get a question if they can track you. Please everyone, step back, take a breath, count to 10, etc. Take a little time to consider the choices you make. Have a great weekend.
Best Regards,
