One event was the NFB national convention in Houston where I met some fantastic people, (some for the very first time) and the other was an alumni reunion for the Florida School for the Blind. I thought it would be lots of fun to try and combine the joys of both events during tomorrow’s ‘Rise and Shine.

I’ve invited some folks to our call for the very first time and am glad to say that we will get to meet some brand new folks. Some from within Florida, some from way out in Texas and hopefully one from our NFB-NEWSLINE national office. All have fascinating stories to share. A special thanks to my friend Elizabeth Campbell, a reporter with the Fort Worth Star Telegram and to Barry and Kae Ann from Guidelights and Gadgets for agreeing to come and visit tomorrow.

Along with the newbies, I am sending out a special invitation to those who have been on our calls in the past but may not have been with us in a while. I’m seeing this as a bit of a family reunion. Perhaps we’ll hold a bigger, full blown, family reunion…okay I really mean party…at some point in the near future, but for now please know that we have missed you being with us. I actually keep a record of who attends our gatherings and in reviewing the list I realized that some incredible people haven’t been with us in a bit. So, with a warm and inviting heart, I’m asking for you to return and say hello to the regulars and new attendees.

If you haven’t been to one of our calls before, joining us at 9:00 AM for coffee tea will give you a chance to find out what you’ve been missing. We always take time for welcoming new guest speakers and participants and for lots of warmth and laughter.

Most of us have become pretty familiar with attending meetings using the Zoom platform over the past couple of years and in fact, we’ve been using Zoom since we launched Rise and Shine way back on April 16th 2020. If you’re not used to using Zoom or if it’s still giving you difficulties, don’t give up just yet. You can access the meeting by clicking on he below listed web link, by using the one tap mobile feature or by dialing the phone number provided and entering the access code when prompted.

The regulars on our call are always warm and welcoming and are thrilled to see new faces.

Hope to have you with us Thursday morning, see below for the Zoom info.

If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to me before the call.
