We believe the information gathered can help us determine barriers to early identification of this co-occurring disability to identify existing gaps in early assessment, diagnosis practices, and implications for improving early intervention services and supports. Specifically, we aim to explore whether intersecting identities, culture, communication modes, and characteristics of parents and their children with ASD and VI influence the diagnosis processes. As a part of our objectives, we want to know if these factors correlate to a timely identification of the diagnoses and services the students receive.
