I am so proud of what we have accomplished by emailing and calling our legislative members. As stated in an email sent by Board Member Nancy Epps earlier today, the House Health and human Services Committee in the Florida Legislature has stricken Division of Blind Services from HB 1103. Working together with the Florida Council of the Blind and other interested parties, the bill has been amended to remove Division of Blind Services from the consolidation efforts to roll all disabilities into one general agency. Members of our Tallahassee Chapter, led by Donald Christie, attended the committee meeting this morning; our opposition to any consolidation has been made part of the record. However, our work is not done. We must re-double our efforts with the Florida Senate. We will continue to monitor the status of both bills as the legislative session is not over and will not end until the beginning of May.

Let’s keep up the hard work and build the National Federation of the Blind of Florida!

Camille Tate, president

National Federation of the Blind of Florida

Board of Directors

www.nfbflorida.org

Tel: 321.372.4899

With love, hope and determination, we transform dreams into reality.
