The Transportation Planner I is responsible for: 

*    Developing and managing project studies, assessments, and surveys

*    Assisting with conducting long range transportation planning and development and implementation of master plans

*    Managing multi-modal planning activities in trails, transit, and bicycle/pedestrian

*    Coordinating and developing safety and corridor studies

*    Conducting data analysis and visualization

*    Assisting local governments in planning and implementing transportation projects

*    Establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with various municipalities, organizations, and agencies

*    Presenting and communicating with a variety of boards and committees

*    Working collaboratively with other members of the SCTPO staff

REQUIREMENTS

Education: Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university in Transportation Planning, Urban/Regional Planning, Geography, Public Administration, Engineering, Geospatial Information Systems (GIS), Sociology, or any related field. 

Experience: Two (2) years of experience in transportation planning or other related fields as listed above. Equivalent combination of education and relevant experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills, or abilities may be substituted one for the other on a year-for-year basis.
