Pledge of Allegiance: Javier Molinares
NFB Pledge: Camille Tate
Pictures were taken for social media.
NFB Pledge done by Camille Tate- This Pledge is important because it sums up
who we are and our unity as an organization. It is being revised at this
time.
It is spoken at both Conventions.
Dues will be collected today, and we will vote in a new member after
reports.
Secretary's Report: March Minutes were tabled due to problem with
recordings still; however, April Minutes were e-mailed for review. Morgan
made a Motion that we accept as e-mailed and Joyce 2nd; all were in favor.
Treasurer's Report: Camille started with December 2023 opening balance
$1,326.64. Debit of $194.88 which pays for Zoom account until November of
2025. Credits were $800 from the Lyons Club which came in late because I
didn't receive first check sent by the Affiliate Treasurer.
She receives grant money and sends to us. So, closing balance for December
2023 is $1,934.80. Savings account's opening balance was $,544.84, plus 8
cents in interest, so, closing balance was $1,544.92. Any questions?
Joyce ask3ed if the $200.00 check for deaf blind was included in those
numbers?
Camille responded, "No". That would have been reflected in the debits. The
check was not received by the Affiliate, so, we are trying to get the check
to Sylvia. It will get done, but we are having a problem with mailings.
Sylvia is not getting stuff from me, and I am not getting stuff from her.
Joyce made a Motion to accept report and Lisa Reynolds 2nd. All were in
favor of accepting December's report.
Opening balance for January was $1,934.80. There were no debits to the
account. There was a $130 CREDIT for membership dues and candy money.
Closing balance for January was $2,064.80. Opening balance for savings
account was $1,544.92. Credit was 8 cents interest. Closing balance for
savings in January was $1,545.08. Any questions? Any oppose, Maria said
NAY, unfortunately. Unable to hear any responses with recording clearly, can
only hear Camille clearly.
I remember Maria coming from the back room and asking again about the check
for Arlene which we had previously discussed.
Opening balance for February in checking is $2,064.80. No debits or
credits. Camille was away for Feb. and all reports were tabled. Closing
balance was 2,064.80. Opening savings for Feb. was $1,545.08 with the 8
cents being interest. That is also the closing balance. Any questions?

President's Report:
Camille talked about National Convention and upcoming State Convention.
Maria asked if the members could receive help from the treasury for expenses
to the National Convention?
Camille replied that she will need an idea of how much the expenses will be.
Usually, we reimburse, but an estimate will be needed to release those
funds.
Maria stated that we will need a driver, and as of right now, myself, Joyce,
Morgan and possibly Alan. So, we are looking at 4 plus luggage which means
we will probably need a van.
Camille suggested that we check out Uber or Lift and get an
estimate to compare with renting a van.
Maria stated that if she goes on line, she will get an estimate from her
house to wherever we will be staying.
The Hotels are in a line with the Rosen Center in the middle. There are
bridges or corridors linking hotels; however, there are no more available
rooms in the Center. It really depends on when you are going and leaving.
We are going on the 6th, 7th and 8th - departing on the 8th after General
session.
Camille stated that she will call Baltimore and see what's still available
and get back to you.
Maria asked if she were safe to believe that the organization will pay for
an UBER.
Yes, but get an estimate of the Uber, Lift and Van and see what's cheaper.
A budget is needed to release funds so you will have them to book your ride.
Maria also asked if you have to attend the entire Convention to receive a
stipend?
There are usually no stipends given for National, because the State
Convention is more important, and we tend to spend more money at the State.
If a stipend is absolutely necessary, once we resolve the cost of the
transportation expenses, then we will see. We must have monies for State,
and some left in bank.
Joyce asked about Arlene reaching out to Board members regarding $200
Deaf/Blind donation. She said it's been 8 months.
Camille said she will call Arlene. I did have them with me but Sylvia did
not take them. I had a couple of checks, but she did not take them, so we
will have to work out how to get the checks to her because mailing does not
seem to be working.
So, I will deal with Arlene.
Camille stated that she will start back playing the President's Release at
least for 20 minutes. It's usually 45 to 60 minutes; this is the only
opportunity Chapter members will have to hear the National President; it
will not be every month, but it is there work of the Federation, and that's
why some may feel like it's dry. She also shared that one day she hopes to
be on the National Board; she was appointed to be on the National
Resolutions Committee on July 4th.
Maria made a Motion to adjourn meeting and Joyce 2nd the Motion at 12 noon.
