Independence Day Closure

A farewell message from Dr. Groome:

I write this last message with mixed emotions.  I have been a part of BAAB since 2007, first as a volunteer reader for the recording of magazines, then as a board member, and now as its President.  As a full-time professor at Eastern Florida State College and an adjunct professor at Florida Technology, I have been unable to do all the things I want for this wonderful organization. I have seen a lot of changes in my time here, and I find it is now time for me to hand over the reins to someone else.  I will still be a part of this wonderful organization, but just not as its President.  Diana Figueroa, Esq. has taken over the position of President and will reach out to you all in the next Newsletter. 

As we navigate this transition, I urge you to sustain your support for this invaluable resource. BAAB plays a crucial role in providing classes for the visually impaired in Brevard County and audio recordings of current magazines for the entire United States. Your continued support is vital to ensure the uninterrupted availability of these services. 

I hope to see you all at the Sprint for Sight annual 5K event at Gleason Park on Saturday, October 5, 2024, and our newest event, Light Among the Shadows, on February 22, 2025. Stay posted to the website for more information.

32 Years of Service Acknowledgement: Evelyn Bartolotta

For the last 32 years Ms. Bartolotta has been a pivotal member of BAAB serving in many different roles such as Vice-President, President, Board Member, Grant Writer, public speaker, monitor and recorder for the Recording Team, Race Director for the Sprint for Sight 5K and many more roles that were needed. Evie will be sadly missed as she is retiring from BAAB. We are so thankful for her years of service!
