Research Participation Request:    


The below research participant solicitation is being provided for
informational purposes only. The National Federation of the Blind has no
involvement in this research, but we believe that it may contribute to our
research mission.

 


Research Title: Online survey of testing the accessibility of verbal
instructions for blind exercise learners


Being conducted by: University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign


Purpose of the Study


In this study, we will develop and evaluate verbal instructions of muscle
strengthening training for blind and low-vision (BLV) individuals, utilizing
the BESS framework (Body, Effort, Shape, Space) from Laban motion analysis.
We want to evaluate the accessibility of the verbal instructions for blind
individuals.


Role of the Participants and Anticipated Length of the Study 


The online survey with 15 questions will take about 30-50 minutes.
Participants are requested to read the provided exercise teaching verbal
instructions and evaluate its accessibility using 4-Likert scale.


Proposed Participant Compensation


Yes, A total of 200 participants will be recruited. Out of 200 participants,
50 will be randomly selected to receive a $30 Amazon gift card using random
number generation software.
