Greetings Chapter and Division Presidents: 

 

The National Federation of the Blind has opened our Parent Leadership
Program. I am seeking members of your chapter or division that are parents
of blind children. The parent or parents can be either blind or sighted and
couples are welcome. The parents must be willing to travel to our Jernigan
Institute in Baltimore and arrive on Friday, January 31 or no later than
noon on Saturday, February 1. The Parent Leadership Program will be held
off-site at a hotel, provided at no cost, by the National Organization of
Parents of Blind Children; this includes travel to Baltimore, housing in the
off-site hotel (must be willing to share a room or cover half the room cost)
and travel to Washington, D.C. following the training. The parents will be
taken to our Jernigan Institute for training, February 1-3. After this
training, the parents are strongly and highly encouraged to participate in
Washington Seminar with their state delegation, at their own expense. There
may be some assistance available from the Florida affiliate to defray the
parents' costs in Washington, D.C. Please send me your parents of blind
children names and contact information no later than Tuesday, January 7.
