Subject: Looking for a blind mentor working in my field or in a similar
field
Good morning everyone,
My name is Ana, I'm a blind young adult, and I work as a missionary with
inner city youth. My daily work with the youth is not challenging; I lead
youth nights and bible studies, and I've done this for years. However, 3
times a year, I take my youth to large conferences where crowds of about
5000 teenagers and youth ministers gather. These places are loud, busy, and
there is a lot going on at once. As a blind person, I've been having a hard
time keeping track of my students and leading them to activities
effectively. Thankfully I do have volunteers in these trips who help me out
with leading students and keeping track of them, but I'm the youth minister,
and I want to take a more active role in these trips; I want to be the one
leading students, telling people where to go and what's coming next, and I
want to be able to keep track of them myself.
Anyway, I'm reaching out to see if any of you knows someone in your chapter
or affiliate who is doing something similar who could give me some
suggestions.
Hope to hear from someone soon.
Sincerely,
Ana
