Happy Global Accessibility Awareness Day

Today is Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD), an international day
that spreads awareness and celebrates advancements in the accessibility
industry. 

The National Federation of the Blind advocates for and promotes
accessibility and inclusion throughout our advocacy and technological work
with members, organizations, government entities, and educational
institutions.

Advocacy Actions

We advocate for legislation that improves the lives of blind people, such as
the Websites and Software Applications Accessibility Act.

Last evening, May 14, Representative Pete Sessions (Texas) and
Representative Steny Hoyer (Maryland) introduced the Websites and Software
Applications Accessibility Act, H.R. 3417. This legislation seeks to
eliminate persistent digital accessibility barriers faced by blind and
disabled Americans. More information on the next steps coming soon. Thank

Accessibility Training

The Center of Excellence in Nonvisual Accessibility in collaboration with
the Maryland Department of Disabilities, offers training to teach the
fundamentals of digital accessibility.

Join us for our Indoor Navigation Software boutique on May 27, 2025, from
2:00 - 3:30 p.m. Eastern via Zoom. We will cover types of indoor navigation,
indoor navigation smartphone applications, and the future of indoor
navigation.
