It is HB7041 and SB90, which will change current Vote By Mail into a process that will further disenfranchise disabled voters. The Florida House Appropriations Committee will hear this bill on Thursday, April 8, at 5:30 p.m. We strongly encourage every member of the National Federation of the Blind of Florida to reach out to their State Representative. Attached to this email is a letter to send, on National Federation of the Blind of Florida letterhead. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>The letter is created in a way that all you have to do is insert your name and chapter name in the indicated spots. If you hold a title within our affiliate, please add that in the signature area, below your name. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>The National Federation of the Blind and the National Federation of the Blind of Florida believe that we must protect our right to vote independently and privately. The current legislation will infringe upon our right to independently use the Vote By Mail process and impact our ability to cast such vote by the means in which we have always done. The bill will remove many drop box locations, not allow you to utilize a friend or family member who does not live with you to return your ballot and, require you to register to vote by mail every year, using a process that is generally inaccessible to you. <o:p></o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal><o:p> </o:p></p><p class=MsoNormal>Let each of our voices be heard.
