<html><head><meta http-equiv="content-type" content="text/html; charset=utf-8"></head><body dir="auto"><div>Good morning,</div><div>Here are a few suggestions. If there was a way to arrive at the conference earlier to get yourself familiar with the area. This could help with navigation issues. As far as using sighted volunteers to make sure that your group is staying together I do not personally think is a bad idea. I Would think if you were a sighted teacher, in a crowd that big with depending on how many students you have, you would still be using other volunteers to keep the group together. In addition, you could talk to your students regarding your blindness and making them understand the importance of sticking together. I have a five-year-old daughter, that I have talked to when I travel or I should say when we travel, and she knows to stay. Near me, and if I was to say her name, she is to respond. Therefore, perhaps using walkie-talkies Could be an idea. For an example, if you have 20 kids group them into two or four different groups, depending on how many walkie-talkies you have. Then, have a team leader in the group, and every so often you could do a radio check. Hope some of these suggestions help</div><div><div dir="ltr"><span style="background-color: rgba(255, 255, 255, 0);">-- <br>Miranda b. My daily work with the youth is not challenging; I lead youth nights and bible studies, and I've done this for years. However, 3 times a year, I take my youth to large conferences where crowds of about 5000 teenagers and youth ministers gather. These places are loud, busy, and there is a lot going on at once. As a blind person, I've been having a hard time keeping track of my students and leading them to activities effectively. Thankfully I do have volunteers in these trips who help me out with leading students and keeping track of them, but I'm the youth minister, and I want to take a more active role in these trips; I want to be the one leading students, telling people where to go and what's coming next, and I want to be able to keep track of them myself.<o:p></o:p></span></p></div><div><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:black">Anyway, I'm reaching out to see if any of you knows someone in your chapter or affiliate who is doing something similar who could give me some suggestions.<o:p></o:p></span></p></div><div><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:black">Hope to hear from someone soon.<o:p></o:p></span></p></div><div><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:black">Sincerely,<o:p></o:p></span></p></div><div><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:black">Ana<o:p></o:p></span></p></div><div id="Signature"><div><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:black"><o:p> </o:p></span></p></div><div style="margin-left:30.0pt"><p class="MsoNormal">Ana Martinez Larumbe<o:p></o:p></p></div><div><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:black">Adore Missionary<o:p></o:p></span></p></div><div><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:black">(318)-737-0629<o:p></o:p></span></p></div><div><p class="MsoNormal"><span style="color:black">"Give me souls and take the rest"-St. John Bosco<o:p></o:p></span></p></div></div></div><span>_______________________________________________</span><br><span>NFBF-Melbourne mailing list</span><br><span>NFBF-Melbourne@nfbnet.org</span><br><span>http://nfbnet.org/mailman/listinfo/nfbf-melbourne_nfbnet.org</span><br><span>To unsubscribe, change your list options or get your account info for NFBF-Melbourne:</span><br><span>%(user_optionsurl)s</span><br></div></blockquote></div></body></html>
