[NFBF-Tampa] Matt Weihmuller: Asking for Assistance Regarding Spreading the word for Arts4All Florida Young Performers Project

        I hope you are doing well.  My apologies for bothering you.  My name is Matt Weihmuller and I am a visually impaired music instructor in Tampa, Florida.  I teach jazz ensemble and saxophone at the Straz Center for the Performing Arts downtown.  I was hoping to spread the word regarding an organizational project I am working on.

The organization is called Arts4All Florida and it is based out of USF (University of South Florida).  Arts4All Florida deals with disabled musicians and is kind of like the Special Olympics, but for performing arts.  Basically, back in July, the organization wanted to put together a group of young performers who had participated in their young soloist competition.  This competition was for any performer from age 14 – 24 and has any type of disability who lives in the state of Florida, however, many of the former participants have been visually impaired.  The idea was to do a remote performance for the celebration of the 30th anniversary of the passing of the ADA (Americans With Disabilities Act).  I wrote specific music for each performer and had them record a video of them playing this part.  It was then sent to a colleague of mine who mixed all of the parts to form one large performance video of the ensemble. The project did so well that the organization received a grant for me to coordinate three more such video performances.  Therefore, the winners of the Young Performers competition this January will be asked to participate in this project. The deadline for new applicants is fast approaching and unfortunately, only a few people have applied.  The organization was really hoping to use the new performers in this next video that I am coordinating scheduled to go up in March.  Each participant who is chosen receives a $50 compensation for their time.  Therefore, I am reaching out to anyone I can to see if they might have someone who would be interested in participating in the program.  I have pasted the email below regarding the requirements for this project for your convenience.
