Hello Ed, this is a valid question. So, hopefully my answer can help. 
Not everyone has the funds nor the desire to use Lyft and/or Uber. For 
example, while someone might have the funds to use Lyft/Uber, maybe they 
don't feel comfortable, or maybe they do not know how to use the app. We 
simply cannot assume. Also, if someone does not feel comfortable using 
the public bus system, that can also be a factor in the decision making 
process. In short, there are times that using para-transit is much more 
convenient even if that is not the answer for everyone. For example, 
here in Houston, I have the para-transit services. We call it Metro Lift 
here. But I don't always use them because I prefer Uber for quick 
on-the-go travel. Yet, at the same time, if I don't want to pay the 
extra money for Uber, or if I have some extra time, I might use Metro 
Lift. So you see, it's about choice and comfort.

PS: I for one wish I could attend in person, but I don't think there is 
a bus service, para-transit or public, that goes there. *smile*.
