[NFBF-Tampa] [EXTERNAL] Fwd: Transportation Disadvantaged Service Update

I called the contact number listed below for Hillsborough to find out about registering. The person I spoke with looked up my address and told me I was not eligible because Hart Plus served my area. She also told me for those who are eligible the service is for the county where you live only. In other words, I was told the no service would be provided from one county to another. If this information is wrong, please let me know. To say the least, I am very disappointed.

We are writing to make you aware of a new transportation disadvantaged program scheduled to begin later this summer, serving people in Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas Counties.

Please note: This is not TD Tampa Bay and TBARTA is not involved. At this time, because there is no state funding available for TD Tampa Bay, there are no plans for that service to resume. However, because you participated in TD Tampa Bay you may be able to make use of this new service.

Below is a media release from the Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA), one of the agencies that will be providing the service, as well as information on how to sign-up and qualify.

PSTA to Receive $1 Million for
Regional Transportation Disadvantage Service

St. Petersburg, FLA – The Pinellas Suncoast Transit Authority (PSTA) will receive $1 million from the Florida Commission for Transportation Disadvantaged for a re-launch of a regional transportation disadvantaged service in the Tampa Bay area that had been discontinued a year ago due to a lack of funding.

In partnership with agencies in Hillsborough and Pasco counties, the funding will re-launch same-day, door-to-door regional trips within Pinellas, Hillsborough, and Pasco Counties like the popular TD-Tampa Bay service that was discontinued last June.

“This money is a game-changer for transportation connectivity throughout our region,” said Brad Miller, Chief Executive Officer of PSTA.  “When the state funding was canceled last year, I know a lot of residents who relied on the service to get from Pinellas to Tampa or Pasco to Clearwater were left stranded.  So this time, all three counties worked collaboratively and I’m grateful to the Commission for approving of this new regional approach.”

The new regional service will be provided by Uber, Lyft, taxis, and wheelchair van services for all qualified residents of Hillsborough, Pasco, and Pinellas Counties.
