Dear Tampa Bay Chapter Members,

As a leader in the National Federation of the Blind, I was
obligated to agree to and sign the code of conduct of the National
Federation of the Blind; I have attached my signed copy to this message.
Even though grassroots members are not required to sign this code of
conduct, all members are bound by it. In addition, all NFB national,
affiliate, division, and chapter constitutions allow the chapter to expel
members for "conduct unbecoming a member of the National Federation of the
Blind." If a member is unwilling to comply with fundamental decorum of good
behavior, such member may be expelled. Furthermore, participation in such
things as meetings, discussion lists, and other activities are privileges of
membership which, if abused, can be revoked.

Please take the time to read the attached code of conduct
and read the following excerpt concerning social media.

IV. Social Media and Web Policy

All members of the Federation, but especially officers of the Federation as
well as those in leadership positions such as state affiliate presidents,
should follow these recommended guidelines when making comments online,
posting to a blog, using
Facebook/Twitter/LinkedIn/YouTube/Pinterest/Instagram/similar tools, and/or
using other platforms that fall under the definition of social media:

*	Promote the mission and branding message of the organization in
comments/posts.
*	Recognize that you are morally and legally responsible for
comments/pictures posted online.
*	Be aware that the audience includes members and nonmembers of the
NFB, both youth and adults, representing diverse cultures and backgrounds.
*	Refrain from using profanity/derogatory language.
*	Post/respond with integrity. Though you may disagree with a post, be
respectful and factual. Do not fight or air personal grievances online.
*	Do not post materials that are inappropriate for children/minors to
view/share/read.

Fraternally yours,

Marion Gwizdala
