Subject: [NFBF-Tampa] Reflecting over the last year

Good evening members, supporters,and friends,

First, Happy new year! I wish all of you a fantastic 2024. As We sit back and reflect what has happened over the year well, as far as the Tampa Bay Chapter of the National Federation of the Blind, we have a lot to celebrate And look back on. From our chapter meetings, social events, fundraisers, and even some celebrations of lives. The Tampa Bay membership has flourish this year in so many ways. so, I will break it down, but if I forget something, I ask that you please forgive me and add it to the list.

Social events. A huge thank you to Yvonne Rosanelli for stepping up once again this year as our social event coordinator. She organize and orchestrated events at the Apple Store where individuals got a little hands-on training on different devices, a bowling event, where several members and friends showed up and participated(including Dan who never bowls Lol(, and our holiday party that was gracefully hosted by Merry and Marion this year. Who is this say what 2024 has in store for our social event calendar.

Fundraisers! This was an exciting year, I personallyThis was an exciting topic this year! I think we put the FUN in fundraising this year! We successfully put together our ADA pancake breakfast, where we set a goal of $1000 and surpassed it this year! The thing I loved about this fundraiser was that everyone put their hands in and assisted on making this project fun, informative, and successful. Whether it was volunteering to solicit at the Publix, prior to the event, making the flyer and tickets, assisting, busting the tables at the event, greeting participants, and donating a raffle basket, we made sure that the work got done. We also did for the first time ever are stronger together concert. This took a lot of time, planning, and practice for several of us, but including some non-Tampa Bay members. Overall, the attendees had an amazing time and enjoyed every minute, even the oops that we had when Marion tried to do a back flip off the stage lol. Thank you to all who helped with this project! last, but not least, our spirit event at the citrus Park Chick-fil-A. This event did not raise us that much funds, but. every penny counts.

celebrating Life’s. This year in January, we kicked off the year with a baby shower for Brittany and Scott for baby Ian! Ian was born February 9th. I know, because of you and all your generosity Brittany and Scott did not have to buy diapers or wipes for quite a while! So, I Thank you for what you did to make Baby Ian Feel loved and welcomed. however, we did lose some very important people this year too. Lloyd Matthews, and Gloria Mills Hicks two members who helped create the chapter. Even though they are gone, they will never be forgotten. Lloyd, with his Jamaican accent, who always ordered soup and a beer, to Gloria and her famous hamburger wrap. Brought many smiles and laughter to the Chapter.

Last, but, not least, I would like to give a few shout outs. These individuals went above and beyond this year, and deserve some recognition. A huge thank you to Greg Farley, who collected an extreme amount of door prizes, and auction items for our 2023 state convention. I think Jessica Cuddy for stepping outside of her comfort zone this year and participating and assisting more. thank you to Dan who stepped in and took minutes when Sherrill was unavailable. Thank you to Shanti Aaron and Louise Peyton for working the Publix event! To Marion and Z’Leah for directing, participating and keeping all the other band members encouraged for our Stronger together concert. again, if I forgot someone, I do apologize and this is where we can shine together. So, if you know of a memory or a member, that was outstanding, let us know. Even if your name is not on this list, it does not mean you didn’t help make the Tampa Chapter the best Chapter out there! Because we are stronger together, when we work together!

Again, I wish all of you a prospers 2024 year and let’s continue the work of the National Federation Of The Blind.
