[NFBF-Tampa] Para Transit Policies Is April meeting reminder Saturday 4/26 12p

Hi Marion:

I would like to offer support for cancelling a reservation without talking
to a CSR. Cancelling a trip to a machine does not give us assurance that the
ride is indeed cancelled and avoiding a no showcharge.

Regarding the recertification, I have not yet gone through the
recertification process here in Tampa, but as a long time user of
paratransit services in other states, this has always been a frustrating
issue. If you have already medically documented that you have a disability
that is permanent, which blindness is. Why should have to keep going through
the arduous process every 5 years. Could there be a streamline process for
those of us with permanent disabilities?

Additionally, I have a concern that I have previously brought to HART
regarding the lack of notification when our scheduled trip has been changed
to a pick up withYellow Cab-Westcoast transportation. A courtesy message or
call would be helpful . Most recently when this occurred for me, I was told
that I need to call if I needed to know which transportation service is
picking me up.

Thanks for all you do to help improve our HART Plus service.

Shanti

Dear All,

I would like to urge as many of you to join us in person
this month. As a member of HART's ADA Accessibility Committee, I have been
urging HART to modify some of their archaic policies, such as return window
blackouts, three day reservation windows, the inability to cancel trips
without speaking to a CSR, and the requirement to recertify every five
years.

Over the next three days, I would like to invite those impacted by these
policies to write a little about how these policies impact you as a blind
para transit patron. We know that the experiences of others validate our own
experiences; therefore, I want to urge you to post your comments to this
forum. Your comments will be synthesized and we will recommend a formal
written resolution for your approval at Saturday's meeting to be presented
at the next HART ADA Accessibility Committee meeting on May 15.

If you have any questions, please ask. If you have comments,
please share!

Fraternally yours,

Marion Gwizdala
