Dear Tampa Chapter
Our National Office previously sent out an alert. Part of it is below. In
that request, we are asked to call or email our National
Representative. There are a few that cover the Tampa area. At last night's
state legislative call, we were asked to meet with our representative in
person by November 7. Congress is not in session so we should be able to
meet at the local offices.
We have a fact sheet that we can present. Anyone who has gone to Washington
Seminar has an idea of what is needed. I am willing to go with anyone. I
will try to get an appointment with Kathy Caster. If someone else has a
good rapport and would like to set this appointment, please let me know.

>From a previous email sent by our National Office...

On Friday, October 10, the Department of Education issued reduction in
force notices to almost every employee in the Office of Special Education
and Rehabilitative Services (OSERS). As a result, we issued the following
statement:

National Federation of the Blind Denounces Devastating Job Cuts Within the
Office of Special Education and Rehabilitative Services
<https://nfb.org/civicrm/mailing/url?u=40486&qid=11822591>.

If not reversed, this action will severely undermine the Department of
Education’s ability to carry out its legal responsibilities under the
Individuals with Disabilities Education Act (IDEA), the Rehabilitation Act
of 1973, and the Randolph-Sheppard Act. Access the full statement and
resources <https://nfb.org/civicrm/mailing/url?u=40486&qid=11822591>.
