FYI One word of caution: you can only apply for one device from the from the DBS SET Project per personal experience if you're a senior.

Subject: [FCB-L] Meta Glasses for Blinded Veterans and Legally Blind Seniors
Friends of FFB,
Regarding the note below that I sent on June 20 about the Blinded Veterans Association (BVA) collaboration with Meta to provide Meta Glasses to blinded veterans, one important aspect of this program that I just discovered is that the Meta Glasses offered through the VVA are Gen 1. I suppose it makes sense that Meta would like to eliminate their inventory of Gen 1 glasses, since I suspect that orders for Meta Glasses are now all for Gen 2. Given the enhanced features of the Gen 2 glasses, this aspect of the BVA program is important to know.
Also, FYI, if you are 55 or older and are legally blind, you can request Meta Glasses from the Florida Division of Blind Services (DBS) through their Senior Equipment and Training (SET) project. This program is for all legally blind seniors, not just veterans, and the current version of Meta Glasses offered through SET is Gen 2. To learn more about the DBS SET program, you can visit this URL:

Friends of FFB,
Some of you likely heard that Meta announced a type of collaboration with the Blinded Veterans Association (BVA)to provide Meta Glasses to all blind and low vision veterans. The qualifying criteria, as I understand it, is that you just need to be a current active duty member of the armed forces or anyone honorbly discharged from the service who is blind or has low vision. You do not need to have any service-connected disability. I believe you do have to be a member of BVA, which is free to join. You can find out a bit more at this website:
Blinded Veterans and Meta AI Glasses Donation - Blinded Veterans Association<https://bva.org/glasses/>
If you decide to join BVA, you can fill out an application here:
Membership Application - Blinded Veterans Association<https://bva.org/membership/membership-application/>
Kind regards,
Dan
