[NFBFL Treasure Coast]

Hello

I pray this finds you all healthy and safe. It is with an extremely heavy heart that I inform you of the passing of our long time chapter Member, Board Member and most of all friend, Doreen Franklin.

As many of you may know from a previous email, Doreen and her husband David were both suffering from Covid. David seems to be on the mend, however, Doreen was hospitalized last week in the ICU. Unfortunately, Doreen passed away yesterday evening due to Covid.

Doreen leaves behind her husband David and they are four beautiful children. Doreen was a huge advocate for blind children and equal access to education. She served with our parents of blind children for many years. In addition, her passion was to assist families with the IEP process and to ensure that their children were receiving adequate accommodations, therefore, they could be just as successful as they are “cited“ counterparts in the classroom.

Doreen was a dedicated Chapter or Member, Board and Member and friend to the NFB Treasure Coast Chapter for many years. Her advocacy to not only help her chapter members, but her community was outstanding. She gave selflessly to do anything and everything that she could to help those around her. Doreen was a true definition oh what an NFB treasure coast member is and should be. Her love, determination and hope for all but especially blind individuals was remarkable.

I ask that you please keep her husband David and their four children, family and friends in your thoughts and prayers during this difficult time. Doreen was a truly spiritual individual, so I know that she is with God and has gained her angel wings. She was truly an angel on earth and will continue to guide and protect us from above.

At this time, I have not received word of any arrangements. However, as soon as I do, I will inform everyone.
