Hello to one and all!
 
I'm happy to see that Sunrise and Shine with NFB Newsline is settling into its new schedule for 2021 and that fans of the popular Zoom call can plan their schedules accordingly. We are now gathering on the second and fourth Thursday's of each month beginning at 9:00 AM. This means of course that Rise and Shine will be happening  tomorrow, Thursday, June 10th, (and for those planning ahead, again on June 24th).
 
We hope you will be able to join us for our exploration of NFB Newsline and other related topics. Our discussions about Newsline don't take up all of the time we spend together though, there is always time for welcoming new guest speakers and participants and for lots of warmth and laughter.
 
Recently I learned that NFB Newsline had added more available content to its already large array of magazines. I’m always thrilled when I see new magazines arrive on the scene and can hardly wait to sample them. You might have already run across some of the new arrivals but you may not know about all six I have to tell you about tomorrow. I just dialed into the NFB Newsline toll free access line and took a moment to count the number of magazines available for subscribers. Can you believe that there are now 84 different publications out there? I wonder what your favorite magazines are, maybe tomorrow you’ll tell us all what you like to read.
 
Before we get into the NFB Newsline chat however, we’ll have the opportunity to hear from a wonderful guest speaker. Maureen Dorosinski, from the Braille and Talking Book Library in Daytona Beach will join us to give details on the Adult Summer Reading Program beginning on June 28th. I plan to be part of this fantastic event and something tells me you’ll be glad to learn about it too.
 Let’s pack the house tomorrow morning and give Maureen a big Sunrise and Shine welcome.
 
Most of us have become pretty familiar with attending meetings using the Zoom platform over the past year and in fact, we’ve been using Zoom since we launched Rise and Shine last year. If you’re not used to using Zoom or if it’s still giving you difficulties, don’t give up just yet. The regulars on our call are always warm and welcoming and are thrilled to see new faces.
