Good Morning All,

I hope this finds you well.  During our May chapter meeting we had a discussion in regards to changing the checking account over and whose names should go on to the account.  

In addition, a motion was made and passed by the chapter members.  The motion stated that the names of the Vice President and Treasurer would go on the checking account upon transfer to the new officers.  However, I had explained that I would discuss wit the state board because I didn’t think this could occur due to what our current chapter constitution states.  

As I had thought, and tried to explain during the meeting, we can add things to our current constitution, however, we can not take anything out of the constitution without going through the procedures of modifying and recreating our constitution.  Therefore, in reading our constitution and where it pertains to the Treasury (Section 10, please see entire constitution below).  It currently reads that the Treasurer selects the bank and the President approves it.  In addition, it also states that the Treasurer is to b e the PRIMARY name on the account and signer of the account.  However, the President is to be listed as a SECONDARY signer on the account.  

I know there was discussion that the chapter meeting and the membership did not want the President’s name on the account since the President authorizes the transaction.  Also, there was some discrepancies as to what the state board wanted for signers on the bank account.  I have discussed it in length with the stateboard and it has been said to me, the Treasurer and President names go on the account.  This is what our chapter constitution states, as well as the state and national constitutions.

However, for transparency purposes, we can add a third individual on the bank account.  As the current time, there are three names listed on the bank account.  These names are our past President, Vice President and Treasurer.  So, keeping with that sequence, I propose we keep the same three board member titles and simply change the names.  So, on our bank account would have the names listed as follow: Treasurer Joe, President Nicole and Vice President Rosemary.  Due to how our constitution reads, it would have to be in this order.

So, at the convenience of Ron and Joe, please let me know when we can start this transition.  I will also reach out to Rosemary upon hearing from both Ron and Joe, so that she can also make arrangements to go to the bank to have her name added to the account, as well as myself.  I do not want to prolong this transition any longer, especially since two of the three individuals are no longer with us and I know that Ron will be moving soon.  Also, it is important that we have current records from the bank, and access especially if we are considering doing some fundraising.

Again, I have spoken with Sylvia and our state board, and this is what they have instructed us to do as a chapter.  Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.
